NORTH WEST PIPE BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS - PORTRUSH - AUGUST 2008 7TH CONTEST

Tullylagan Pipe Band finished off their competitive season with a 4th Place in Portrush and won the M & D.  We played early in the morning when thankfully it was dry we had a good run in the circle and were pleased with our performance.

The afternoon was a different story with the clouds came the rain. We looked forward to the finale to find out our faite.  When the result were read out we were delighted to be placed 4th and to top the day of we won the M & D.  What an end to the season!

A happy bunch of pipers and drummers walked proudly down a packed Portrush Street for the final parade of the year proudly carrying the cup and shield which they had won.  We finished the season on a high!

With a great finish to the season we look forward to a long hard winter's practise and to next season.

the world pipe band championships - glasow green 2008 -  6TH CONTEST

Well after several years, Tullylagan Pipe Band hit the World Pipe Band Championships with style, sporting new ties and rareing to go!  Leaving Cookstown at 5am on Friday morning did little to dampen the spirts of the band members and friends as we headed for the biggest contest of the year.

Tullylagan's hard practise of the year showed through as we entered the circle and gave the best performance of the season.  Leaving the arena with many smiles, however the dream of playing in the final of 4B was not to be our this year.  On judge placed us 1st in the heat and the 2nd placed us 7th alas we finished in 4th place.  Just leaving us one place shy of qualifying for the final.  But it was a great achievement non the less and has left the Band in high spirts as the final contest of the year in Portrush approaches this coming Saturday.

ulster - bangor - august 2008 - 5th contest

The Ulster Pipe Band Championships were held in Bangor today (9th August 2008)

It was an early start for Band members when they left Cookstown this morning to attend the Ulster Championships in Bangor.  Unfortunately we did not enjoy the sunny weather expected for August.  Heavy rain fell for most of the morning and band members went over the line a little muddy to say the least!

The band members were disappointed with their low placing today in Bangor after pipers and drummers thought they had a reasonably good performance.

A lot of hard work to be put in this week as everyone pushes hard with that final bit of effort into making next week their best performance's of the season on Glasgow Green.

Europeans- lisburn 2008 4th contest

Well after a long break over the July Holidays, and an early start in Lisburn, both nerves and tiredness took hold in Lisburn.  Unfortunately we did not qualify, leaving us with a hard lesson to learn.  However the sun shone on us for the rest of the day, meaning plenty of ice-cream!!

BANBRIDGE 2008 - 3rd CONTEST

Bandsmen and women had to face wet and windy conditions at Banbridge for the Co Down Pipe Band Championships.  (Today the longest day in the year, it looked and felt more like winter)  With extremely heavy showers making the playing conditions difficult for the bands.   However the weather did not hold Tullylagan back as they are steadily climbing up 4B grade.  With an overall place of 5th. Band members left Banbridge very wet and cold!

COOKSTOWN 2008 - 2nd CONTEST

After 2 weeks from our last contest and a lot of hard practise, today we took part in our Home Town of Cookstown for the Mid-Ulster Championships were the band took 5th Place.  Band members left happy and were looking forward to Banbridge next week.

ENNISKILLEN 2008 - 1st CONTEST

In the sun drenced Town of Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, Tullylagan Pipe Band took to the Broadmeadow for not only their 1st Contest of the year their 1st in five years!!

Recently reformed the nerves and tensions were at knife edge.  As you can see from the photographs below their was plenty of practise on the pipes and drums before entering the circle.

The finale was a different story though....torrential downpours, thunder & lighting we stood on to the bitter end! Our hats off to our fellow bandsmen who stood fast with us without capes!

After a long hard day, Tullylagan ended up 9th over all, not the results we had hoped for but with an aim to get a better result in the next contest.
