Well after a long hard slog!
We finally made it to the worlds in Glasgow!
We left Cookstown at 5am on Friday morning and making the long tiring journey to Scotland for the biggest contest of the year!!!!
It was another early morning on Saturday as we boarded our coach after a quick breakfast, uniform check, and various caffeine fixes.
After lots of tuning, some kinks to work out with troubled chanters, drum heads and last minute drills, we marched out to the final tunning area to wait for our place in the heat.
We had practiced long and hard to get to this point and played number 13 in heat 3 at 11.42am, and where given two very different placings by our two judges, a 1st and a 7th!
This unfortunately left us 4th overall and there not qualifying for the final! However to come 4th in a heat of 13 at the biggest contest of the whole season as well as having one of the judges deem us the best band in the whole heat is a massive acheivement and was very encouraging!
Apparently the World Pipe Band Championship is like the Olympics of the piping community. Over 250 bands, 8000 pipers/drummers, highland dancing, highland games, vendors, bagpipe sellers and drum sellers.
We are raring to go next week! everyone has made it home safe and in one piece! We have one more contest to go!
There's nothing else for it but too go out and show them what where made of!!
The Band Members would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported us by going to the Worlds in Glasgow and we look forward to your support for next season.
